Congratulations to Oliver Price, 7th grader, and STATE Spelling Bee Champion! Oliver won the School and Island Spelling Bee to advance to state competition. Now he will head for Washington, D.C. at the end of May to compete nationally! We are so proud of Oliver!

Alex Vickers, and 8th grader at CMS, placed 2nd at State Middle School Wrestling! He's quite the hustler! We are proud of you too, Alex!

The Middle School water safety class that Mr. Fairbanks and Mr. Thain teach is learning how to don immersion suits (survival suits) and enter the water. They had to put them on in at minimum of 60 seconds. After they learned how to put them on, we had a little competition to see who could put them on the fastest! Fourth hour's winner was Mary McKinley with a time of 26 seconds. Fifth
hour's winner was Marina Bennett with a time of 35 seconds! This all took place in the classroom. Two days later the teachers showed them how to enter the water correctly and other different survival techniques in the water. It was a great experience and living in Southeast Alaska, water safety is extremely valuable to know and learn. :-)
